Earth with Fire

Earth: “We do things well.” Fire: “We do things now.”
What you can do (Earth)
- Show them that you want to move forward, not block: “I agree to go ahead. Here is what needs to be respected to keep it on track.”
- Translate their impulse into a simple plan: “If we follow your idea, the next 3 concrete steps are: 1…, 2…, 3…. Do you approve?”
- Propose a speed/security compromise: “We can go fast, but then we skip such and such a step. Otherwise, we maintain security and delay it by X days.”
- Set clear limits without dramatizing: “Beyond X hours / X changes, we jeopardize the quality. It is up to you to decide.”
What to avoid (Earth)
- Systematically answering “no” or “be careful” to everything.
- Hiding behind “we’ve always done it this way.”
- Letting them impose unrealistic deadlines without ever objecting.
- Despising them as “inconsistent”: they provide the momentum you sometimes lack.
