An Institutional Myth: Democracy, Business, and Abandonment of Responsibility

We are in the realm of pure and hard symbolism. Our civilization has taught us that it was good for us to surrender our decision-making power by electing strangers supposed to represent us:

• by giving full power to people we do not know,
• by believing in promises,
• by hoping that the administration manages things for us in a disinterested way.

Modern Saviors often declare:

“I cannot do anything, the administration is blocking it.”

Sometimes, it is true. But often, it is an alibi for doing nothing.

And on the sly, they adapt to the system, enrich themselves, and smooth over their edges.
